In my opinion it's by far on of the easiest way for Canadians to start saving their money - as you put it in and forget about it. There are many mutual fund-based RRSPs that perform very well and are well worth the investment. There's really no benefit in an RRSP (in my opinion) unless you invest in something that pays a dividend, or you plan to do more than just buy an equity and let it sit until retirement. The only benefit to an RRSP is you're not taxed on the money made within the account. Once you take it out, you're taxed on it anyway. The only way to make it worthwhile is if you're actually making profits and reinvesting on equities within. Also, just some advice on the RRSP.
