Another great commercial
Saturday, March 29th, 2008So good.
So good.
I’m speechless. I’ve used torrentspy for years and although I hated their adultfriendfinder ads along with many other annoying pop-ups, I found they had the best search algorithm.
Unlike a lot of popular torrent sites, Torrentspy was merely an index and search engine of torrents and did not host their own. They searched the databases of the other torrent sites and brought you the most relevant results, and frankly their results were much more accurate than searching on the actual sites. Torrentspy closed their doors to American internet users in November of 2007, however, this didn’t phase me at all.
Thinking about it now, I used it most of the time when searching for the most recent movie rips. Specifically those from aXXo, who is arguably the most popular dvd ripper on bittorrent. If you’ve watched one of his nicely-sized 700meg movies, you’d agree his rips are second to none.
So for now I guess I will move on to the number two index site, isoHunt. Torrentspy, you will be missed.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A man who killed his 17 month-old daughter in a rage over a broken Xbox has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.
Philadelphia prosecutors say 27 year-old Tyrone Spellman killed Alayiah Turman in September 2006 with at least five blows to the head when she pulled down his Xbox console. The force of the blows cracked the toddler’s skull.
Spellman was convicted in January of third-degree murder and child endangerment. He was sentenced Thursday, March 13, 2008, to the maximum 22½ to 45 years in prison.
Spellman confessed to police but defense lawyer Bobby Hoof says the statement was coerced and that he was just trying to protect the child’s mother.
But at Thursday’s hearing, Spellman expressed remorse.
The couple’s other child, born after the killing, is in city custody.

Will be possible in the year 2015.
I’ve been doing a bit of info gathering for a research project on Gillette’s Venus razors and I ran across a fairly humorous bit of information that I thought I would share:
—
In response to the arms race between Schick and Gillette, a new variation of technological singularity has ironically been proposed. After the invention of the safety razor, it took 75 years for the second blade to be added, then only 15 for the third, and one for the fourth and fifth. Using static analysis, this perfectly matches a hyperbolic curve which reaches infinity in 2015, predicting therefore that by then razors will have an infinite number of blades.

Just make sure you don’t cut yourself.
Thanks, Boy George.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I know I’m a little early, but so was our celebration. I was lucky enough to make it home for the annual easter egg hunt. Fortunately for me the hunt was moved from it’s normal time on Sunday morning to Friday morning to accommodate my busy schedule this weekend.
When I tell some people that we still do an Easter egg hunt every year they laugh and tell me I’m too old. It’s not until after I experience it again that I realize how wrong they are. There’s nothing quite like waking up to Easter eggs all over the house and racing against the rest of your family to see who can collect the most. Normally it’s just the brothers since I’m pretty sure the Easter Bunny leaves Mom and Dad a map of where they are hidden.
Not the part about harassing our youth, but the part about trying to stop crime before it starts - and I’m pretty sure Tom Cruise showed us it didn’t really work. I’ve stumbled upon an interesting article (thanks to a colleague’s blog) that I thought I’d comment on.
In the article, the director of forensic science at Scotland Yard argues that children should be encouraged to provide DNS samples if they exhibit behaviour indicating they may become criminals later in life. Maybe I’m just stubborn but that sounds like a stretch. Especially since it mentions that school teachers would be tasked with identifying these abnormal behaviours. I’m sorry, but when during their B.A. and B.E.D. did teachers learn how to identify criminal traits in five-year-olds? I’m all for crime prevention, but I believe there are better ways than to make our children submit their precious DNA.
I’m not arguing that there are ways to “measure” the probability that a child will turn into a criminal, but I think if we want to better spend our money we focus on the parents. We’ve all heard the expression “some people’s kids”, I believe if we educate the parents and give them the support they need to be involved in their child’s life, we’ll see less violence - especially amongst youth.
Being a marketing major I tend to spend a lot of my time analyzing commercials and other forms of advertisements whether it be for class or just because I can’t watch one without running through the check-list that is now embedded in my mind. I’ve likely studied over a hundred great ads for class but thought I’d share my favourite two.
This first one is about a year or so old now, but it will never be forgotten in my mind. DQ did in fact do something different here.
My second favourite ad was from Sprint. Although I tend to favour Virgin’s marketing strategy more than Sprint’s, I must hand it to them - this is funny.
It’s been about four years that I’ve been meaning to do something with this site - according to the whois for adambate.com (Creation Date: 29-may-2005), although I’m pretty sure I even let that expire once or twice before reregistering. Needless to say I’m excited to get this site online.
Please bare with me as I change around the site, if it goes down or you aren’t able to access certain pages it’s not the end of the world, I will fix it. It’s been a long time since I’ve actively blogged so try not to pick on me too much. So as I stretch out the blogging muscles over the next few days, sit tight and get prepared for what’s to come.
